Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP)

Our Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP) has two classes, they are known as the Discovers. The classes work closely together so that the specific needs of individual pupils can be met.  The ELP classes are supported by our team of experienced teachers and teaching assistants as well as our SENDCO.

The Learning Environment

The ELP learning environment is set up across two classrooms and an outside learning area.  The children also have access to all other areas in the mainstream school including the dinner hall and extensive outdoor grounds.  Every opportunity is taken to include our Enhanced Learning Provision pupils in mainstream activities whenever possible. Pupils are encouraged to take part in mainstream school clubs.

Discoverers Curriculum

Our Discoverers follow a bespoke curricula which is designed to prioritise the children’s needs and support them to make the most progress in those areas which will have the greatest impact on their life chances. The curriculum is personalised to the special educational needs of our pupils and provides opportunities for children to achieve their potential across a broad range of areas.

ELP Plan and Staff Support

The ELP staff plan and offer a wealth of provision for the pupils (supported by the EP, Speech and Language team, Occupational Therapist and other external services). We are also supported by the local authority SEND team which consists of Advisory teachers and Educational Psychologists. Regular educational trips are planned to enhance children’s experiences and encourage them to apply their learning in new and familiar contexts, whist embedding memorable experiences.
