Letter from Mrs Adair - Update on Returning to School

Dear Parents / Carers

Following a meeting of the governing body this afternoon, a decision has been made to reopen Howletch Lane Primary School to specific year groups starting next Monday 22nd June.
The governors discussed recently produced data and are satisfied that the number of new cases of COVID19 (plus the statistics for deaths in our area) are diminishing . We now feel that there is a downward trend in statistics and are feeling reassured that it is the right time to make steps towards the reopening of our school to more pupils.
Next Monday 22nd June we would like to welcome back Reception pupils and Year One pupils only. Entry to the school for these year groups will be through the usual KS1 entrance.  There will be staggered start and finish times for each group of children and you will be informed of these later this week.  If the first week goes well with no issues, then it is our intention to open up to Year 6 on Monday 29th June followed by some Nursery pupils later that week. More details to follow.
Our next step involves gathering the information from yourselves as parents and carers as to whether or not you would like your child to return to school.
If you have a child in Reception, Year One, Year Six or Nursery, please fill in the questionnaire which you will be sent this evening informing us of your intentions.  This must be done before Wednesday 17th June at 5pm.  Once we have the completed questionnaires, we will divide the children into Rainbow Bubble Groups and will send you the information you need to know about returning to school. We will only send the questionnaire to those four specified year groups.

Please remember that school is still open to key worker's children and vulnerable pupils at present.  If you belong to one of these groups please contact the school by telephone or at and we will be happy to discuss a start date for your child if we have the capacity to take them.

Thank you for your patience and support at this difficult time.  I hope you understand our previous caution and I wish you and your families well.
Keep safe and I hope to see some of you very soon.

Kind regards,

Helen Adair
