Letter from Mrs Adair regarding returning to school
Dear Parents / Carers,
Following a meeting of the governing body this afternoon, a decision has been made to delay opening for at least one more week. This decision has not been taken lightly. The governors and I are very keen to have school open again but not until we feel it is safe. Governors presented local and national data from a variety of sources showing that Peterlee is still a high risk town in terms of vulnerability. There was much discussion but as a governing body, we are concerned for the health and safety of all pupils, staff and members of the school community and for that reason have decided to meet again on Monday 15th June in order to make a decision for the following week.
We hope to open on 22nd June and this will be for Reception pupils and Year one pupils only. Year 6 children would then be invited back to school in the week beginning 29th June followed by Nursery pupils later that week.
Please remember that school is still open to key worker's children and vulnerable pupils at present. If you belong to one of these groups please contact the school by telephone or at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to set up a start date for your child.
I will be back in touch next Monday with further information. At the moment there is no need to let us know your intentions about your child's return to school until we know a definite reopening date.
I wish you and your families well at this strange and difficult time.
Keep safe and look after yourselves.
