Governing Body Remit

The purpose of the Governing Body is to conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. Its three core strategic functions are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

The Governing Body of Howletch Primary was reconstituted in November 2020. There are 14 members which include the Headteacher, 1 staff governor, 1 Local Authority governor, 4 parent governors and 7 co-opted governors.

The School Business Manager is an associate member of the board, this post does not have voting rights)
