Fund Raising

We are really excited that your school has agreed to work with us for the purpose of fundraising and recycling in the “School Connect Project”.

We are a north east based company who specialise in the recycling of unwanted and unloved clothing, bags, shoes (pairs) and bric-a-brac for collection and redistribution.

The reason we think this project is so important is that young adults and the youth of today really seem to have taken on board the effect waste has on climate change.  We are hoping that by starting with recycling, your child will also begin to ask the right questions about climate change and the ways in which they can begin to look after the planet for future generations.

Young people are not only the victims of climate change caused by generations gone-by, they are valuable contributors to climate action. They realise that it is their futures that will be affected.

Children are seeing first hand the visible and disturbing impacts of plastic in our rivers, seas and oceans and how marine wildlife is suffering through the ingestion, suffocation and entanglement of hundreds of marine species. Animals such as seabirds, whales, fishes and turtles, mistake plastic waste for prey, and most die of starvation as their stomachs are filled with plastic debris.

Hopefully by encouraging your child to engage with the project they will begin to learn the effect waste has on the environment and how we can all play our part in effecting change.  They will also be helping the school to raise funds for their own specific causes.  And maybe you will have the added bonus of your child wanting to sort out their drawers and wardrobes and get rid of things they no longer use or want.

We want the children to enjoy this experience and for it to be fun and we will be talking to the school about how we can encourage the children to be involved and how we can engage with them more directly by way of competitions and prizes etc.

If you could ask your child to help you to fill a bag and take it along to the school and place it in our bright new Smart Outdoor Clothing Recycle Containers we will ensure that the items are properly redistributed.  All of the good quality clothing which we receive is re-sold, re-used or recycled, helping to lessen the impact of waste on the environment.  As a company, we deal with all of the goods we collect responsibly and our dedicated, fully trained staff will ensure that no unnecessary waste goes to landfill.

Yours faithfully

Covid 19 Fundraiser - Staff and Governor Danceathon

Hello everyone. In recent weeks our lives have been turned upside down due to COVID-19. Staff and governors at Howletch Lane Primary school wish to help those in their local community by taking part in a danceathon in their living rooms beginning with our Chair of Governors Mrs Karen Stevens earlier today. Karen completed the 2.6 hour dance challenge along with Mrs Debbie Brady one of our teaching assistants (dancing in separate living rooms of course!). Many other staff including myself have signed up to take part over the next few days and we would really appreciate your support.

Please visit the page above and make a donation if you are able to. We will make sure that this money is used to go straight back into the local community to support struggling families.
Thank you from Mrs Adair, the governors and staff of Howletch Primary.

Thursday was a busy day for the Danceathon! Mrs Adair and her daughter completed a Mamma Mia themed danceathon whilst Mrs Mason and her family took us back to the 1970s with a fabulous rendition of Oops upside your head. Meanwhile in school, Team B walked 500 miles with the Proclaimers after their Joe Wicks workout! Well done everyone who has taken part and thank you to everyone who has kindly donated to our fundraising for the local community.

Fund Raising

There are various fund raising events held throughout the year.  As well as raising money for our own school funds we are proud to have helped several charities with our fund raising efforts.  Thank you to all those parents who have supported us!
